There are two ways to share project folders in Wiredrive. You can use the Get Link feature or the Share feature. Both will provide you with flexible options to share your work with the project team or external recipients.
Generate a Get Link:
From Projects, you can click the project or folder you want to share. You can share the entire project by clicking the project main folder or you can click sub-folders or files to share specific content.
- You will then be able to click the "Get Link" button on the right side on the screen.
- You with then be prompted to check the options you would like the link to provide:
-
- Notify when viewed - Get an email every time someone accesses the get link.
- Enable forward links - Anyone with the get link can open the link and click the forward option to forward to other recipients that will show in the reports as a unique view.
- Allow download/podcast/RSS - This allows receipts to download presentation files or receive embed code for the podcast or an RSS feed.
Require password - This option will require recipients to enter a password to access.
- Theme - If you have a plan that supports multiple themes for different brands you can choose the email template and theme that will be used for the selected presentation.
- Expire - You may set an expiration date so that the presentation is only available for a specific time period. If you do not set a date your presentation will never expire and can only be expired manually in reports.
- Simply click the "Create Link" option for a short link to be generated. You can click the Copy Link button to save to your clipboard or manually copy and paste as needed.
Important things to remember:
- A Get Link is a URL that can be accessed by anyone who has it. If you are sending sensitive content, we recommend that you use the "Require Password" option to add a layer of security.
- We provide you the "Track Recipient As" box on the "Get Link" page for reporting purposes. Here, you can reference the purpose of the link (Who, Where, What the link was for) for reports.
- If "Track Recipient As" is left blank, the reporting for that link will attribute any views to the creator of the link (example: Tom creates a link but does not fill out the box. Any views for the link will be associated with Tom). We do not recommend leaving it blank, as it can make reporting on a presentation views confusing.
- Remember that one link can be viewed multiple times by different people. We recommend that for public links, you should label them for their purpose ex: "Facebook Campaign". That way when you see a link was viewed 2000 times you know that link was shared on Facebook and publicly available.
Sharing a Presentation:
- Click the "Share" button on the right side on the screen.
- You with then be prompted to check the options you would like the presentation email to provide:
-
- List recipients in email - Show the list of list of recipients the presentation is shared with.
- Email Image - Will display the first image in the folder selected or you can select to use the Project image.
- Once all options are set you may click "Send"
Get Link vs Share
There are many advantages to using the "Get Link" presentation option, but it does have its drawbacks.
- If you are looking for a detailed report of every user that has viewed your reels using the "Share" option will give you a more detailed report. Using "Share" requires an email address. Every recipient of that "Share" receives a unique link associated with their email address. This lets you see how many files each person watched.
- "Share" will track every recipient by their email address. This may be easier for some then remembering to fill out the "Track Recipient As" box for every "Get Link".
